Wolftrap emphasizes quality care for senior and disabled retired horses. Owners have seen their former prize mounts thrive and begin to kick up their heels again under the care of our staff. Having an equine veterinarian living on the farm means no health issue or injury need go unattended. With Dr. Gallaspy's ongoing advice, our retirees recover more function and good health, so they can enjoy their remaining years. Retirement board at Wolftrap can mean field board, a regular stall with daily turn-out, or a premium level of care for the horse that has earned it. The level of service can be changed month to month, stall space permitting. With all levels of service, Wolftrap offers FREE TRANSPORT to the farm, plus a complimentary weekday stay at our Bed & Breakfast with each six months of board. |

Havanna Havanna enjoyed a long career as a polo pony and family mount. He came to us from New Jersey in early 2007. Since his arrival, he has put on weight and the shine has returned to his coat. He seems to enjoy his quiet life. His owners call regularly and visit when they are in the area. They often express their satisfaction with Havanna's good health.

Raleigh Raleigh came to us from Long Island. A debilitating injury ended his successful show career. We try to assure that he is not in pain, and that other horses do not abuse him. His weight is good, his coat glistens, and he enjoys both his turn-out and hisgrain.

Valedora Valedora came to us not as a retiree, but as a referral from Dr. Gallaspy. Valedorra was a month away from giving birth to her first foal (in the "Before" picture above), but the staff at her owner's farm was not experienced with pregnant mares. Valedora was undernourished, and her body was breaking down as it channelled what nutrition she was getting to the foal she was carrying. She had also developed a skin disease. With intense care from Dr. Gallaspy the mare succeeded in giving birth to a healthy foal. Mother and foal remained at Wolftrap another four months and were in sparkling good health when returned to their owner. Yes, that mare behind the foal really is the same horse you see in the "Before" picture. |
