Wolf Trap Farm offers Vacation Rental and limited Bed & Breakfast accommodations on a 584 acre horse and cattle farm, with mountain views, miles of forest trails, rolling pastures, abundant creeks and brooks, nine ponds, and easy access to all the attractions of Charlottesville and the Central Virginia area.  In recent years, the farm has become a very active wedding and events venue, capitalizing on the beauty of the farm, its views, and the opportunity to have a ceremony, reception and overnight accommodations all at one location.  (If you are shopping wedding venues, you probably should jump to the Weddings and Weddings Packages pages.  You can read this part later.)

James Madison described his Virginia home, Montpelier, as “Just a squirrel’s jump from heaven.” Wolftrap Farm is even closer. Five miles Southeast of Madison’s Montpelier home, this spacious farm sits atop the last foothills of the Piedmont, offering commanding views of the Southwest Mountains

At Wolftrap, you are far away from urban pressures, but still only a “squirrel’s jump” from civilized local attractions. Charlottesville and Culpeper are each one-half hour away. Nearby historical attractions include Montpelier, Monticello, Michie’s Tavern, Ashlawn Highlands, the Exchange Hotel Civil War Museum, the Barboursville Ruins, the Madison Museum, Wilderness Battlefield, and the historic downtowns of Charlottesville and Culpeper.

If your interests include vineyards, fine dining, antiques, history, art, theatre, music, nature, horseback riding, scenic byways, quaint villages, pastoral views, golf, skydiving or river rafting, those passions can each be indulged near Wolftrap.

Wolftrap’s  barns and equestrian facilities are at the center of the farm, within view of each of the guest houses.  The barns are rented to various equine operators and trainers.  Guests at the farm often get to see the horses being schooled or exercised in the training ring or on the way out for conditioning work on our woodland trails.

Booking Options.  Guests may book the various guest houses at Wolftrap individually or in combination as Vacation Rentals, with full kitchen privileges. Spaces can be combined to accommodate families and reunions.

The farm is DEFINITELY kid-friendly.  After all, this is a farm, though an elegant one.  We take pride in how the farm suits all generations.  In addition to the fishing, hiking, petting of horses, rope swings, horse shoe pits and general playing outside, we have a "Play Barn", with pool table, ping pong, air hockey, corn hole, bicycles and other games. And we have a great swimming hole in our creek.

In addition, we welcome dogs, subject to some restrictions for the sake of other guests.
